The perfect uterus

Sorry that I have been a bad blogger. I’m having computer difficulties. I got our old Gateway back (it was getting repaired) but they were out of the power cords for it so now I have to go to Best Buy and hope that they have them or can order one. My MacBook is having a keyboard issue so I can’t use it either. I’ll be taking it to get fixed this weekend. So I’m dependent upon my work computer and I have been SWAMPED at work this week, until today πŸ™‚ Hopefully I can get an update posted here, on my deployment blog and on the Army life blog that I write for a few times per month.

I still don’t have results from the MTHFR and glucose tests. My fabulous nurse, C, said that it would take at least 5 business days so I’m assuming that I’ll hear from her next week. She and the RE decided to go ahead and start me on Folgard for the MTHFR so I’ve been taking it for about a week now. Thrilled to be taking more medicine? Not exactly, especially since it makes me sleepy, but I’ll take it πŸ™‚

I’m also having some issues with the 1500mg of ER Metformin that I’m taking now. My blood sugar has been fluctuating and I’ve been having some bad lows in the afternoons. I am trying to find a local nutritionist but in the meantime I consulted a friend of mine who is living with Type 2 Diabetes. Here is what she suggested to me :

Breakfast:
2 carb choices
2 proteins

Snack:
2 carb choices
1 protein

Lunch:
3-4 carb choices
2-4 proteins

Snack:
2 carb choices
1 protein

Supper:
3-4 carb choices
2-4 proteins

Snack:
2 carb choices
1 protein

I am so thankful that she’s been able to help me with this. I’m going to be revamping my eating habits this weekend and hopefully it will help. One of the most important things that she told me was to never eat carbs alone-always pair them with a protein….yeah, I haven’t been doing that but starting today I am doing it.

Oh yeah, the saline sonogram sucks, BIG TIME, but I was told that I have a perfect uterus πŸ™‚ Apparently a perfect uterus looks like a catchers mit, ready to catch those little test tube embies. I also had a TET (trial embryo transfer) yesterday and the RE was very pleased. One more thing to cross off the IVF list. Here’s the timeline for IVF:

AugustTET, saline sonogram, MTHFR and fasting glucose tests

September-Nothing πŸ™‚

October-Consultations ($927, not billable to insurance)

November-start birth control pills for one cycle (to decrease chance of cysts)

December-IVF CYCLE πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Somewhere in there I will be transporting the frozen swimmers from the old clinic to our chosen clinic…probably when I do the consultations. I can’t believe how close it’s getting. I am getting so nervous and excited but I couldn’t ask for a better clinic and staff.

  1. Yay!! I’m glad things are starting to get rolling.

I try to always to eat carb/protein/fat at every single meal (fat examples are avocado on my omelet/almonds with my snack/walnuts on my salad/etc.). It’s eating in “zone” proportions, which I found really helps to stabilize my blood sugar levels.

In looking at what my friend, T, recommended I see that I’m not eating enough protein (not even close) and many times my snacks are just carbs like fruit or crackers. I think that I am going to sit down this weekend and write out an actual meal plan (including snacks) for everyday next week and keep track of how I feel as far as fatigue, headache and stuff.

      • Yeah, my “go-to” fats to add to meals:

        Avocado
        Almonds
        Walnuts
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (usually when I’m cooking dinners)

Your body needs good fats, and too many people cut them out completely. Also, when TTC, full-fat dairy is MUCH better for you than low/non-fat, so I’ve been switching out our milks & cheese for full fat versions.

I’m trying to work on the protein thing – my acupuncturist said I get too much of my protein from dairy (cheese sticks, cottage cheese, etc) so I’m working on adding in more chicken, shrimp, eggs, etc. She also says that LAMB is key – lots of nutrients, etc. that are helpful when TTC, so that’s another thing I’m starting to add in.

I’m curious to see how you feel after a week of planning/tracking your food & feelings!

  2. That is great about the uterus πŸ™‚ I hope Dec comes quickly for you!

  3. wow! that’s awesome you have a perfect uterus!!! πŸ™‚ Celebrate!
It’s encouraging crossing things off and moving closer to your goal. So good luck and best wishes for you.

    much love

  4. I just stumbled across your blog while searching for IVF blogs (other than mine) out there. I just started my injections last night so I totally know how it feels to be waiting for everything to get going. Hang in there, it will feel like time is dragging but one day you’ll blink and it’s here. Congrats, hope time flies for you!

I got my keyboard replaced for free at the Mac store the other day. If there’s no water damage, they replace it free of charge due to a “malfunction in the hardware” or something (at least on the small, white Macbooks).
